About

Andrew Gray, Garden designer

Firstly, let me tell you a little about myself, I’ve been involved in horticulture for virtually my whole life. I caught the “Gardening bug” or inherited the “Green finger gene” from my parents at an early age. I worked on a production nursery in my early teens and then went onto study Horticulture at Wye College, University of London, attaining a BSC Honours degree in 1986.

After university, I managed a local wholesale nursery and some years later I decided to put my plant knowledge to use in a new and more creative way – Yewtopia was born and it’s been running since 2003.

I have a broad knowledge of all manner of plants and a creative flair; backed up by practical construction experience; to create attractive and imaginative garden designs. I have designed and implemented numerous gardens of all shapes and sizes and in a range of different styles.

I consider myself to be down to earth and approachable but do have a habit of spouting out Latin names (happy to translate).

I love all styles of garden from the quintessential English cottage garden to boundary pushing jungle/tropical style plantings.

Plants are my passion. Andrew Gray
